• The Gospel starts with who God is
    • God is Creator
      • Genesis 1:1–  In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth)
      • We owe Him everything, He owes us nothing
    • God is Holy
      • We don’t excuse anything He does
      • Isaiah 6:1-5 and Revelation 4:8 — The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying:
        • “Holy, holy, holy,
          Lord God Almighty,
          Who was and is and is to come!”
    • God is Just and Judge
      • Genesis 18:25 — Far be it from You to do such a thing as this, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be as the wicked; far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?”
      • We demand justice how much more so with God
    • God is to be Feared
      • Hebrews 10:31 — It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
      • Proverbs 16:5-6 — Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord;
        • Though they join forces,none will go unpunished.
        • In mercy and truth
        • Atonement is provided for iniquity;
      • And by the fear of the Lord one departs from evil.
        • Certain fears are good, fear will make people come to their senses
  • The Gospel includes statements about who man is:
    • He is a sinner by birth
      • Romans 5:12 — Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned
    • His sin affects his whole being
      • Romans 3:10-18 –“There is none righteous, no, not one;…There is none who does good, no, not one.” …“There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
    • Sin is breaking the law of God
      • 1 John 3:4 — Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.
  • The Gospel uses the law to break the hard heart
    • Psalm 19:7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul;
    • Romans 7:7 — What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”
    • Galatians 3:24 — Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
    • Jesus’ example with the Rich young ruler and the woman at the well.
  • We will stand before God Judgment
    • Hebrews 9:27 — And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,
    • Not to plead our case but to receive punishment
  • The Gospel includes statements about man’s eternal destiny
    • Heaven for those that repent and believe the Gospel
    • Hell for those who stand before God on their own
  • The Gospel is Jesus Christ
    • He is God (John 1:1-3)
    • He is Man (Matthew 1:18)
    • He is without sin (Hebrews 4:15)
      • The perfect sacrifice
    • He is Lord and Christ (Acts 2:36)
    • His death makes those who believe Right with God (2 Corinthians 5:21)
    • He is Alive (1 Corinthians 15:3-8)
    • He is coming to Judge (Acts 17:30-31)
  • The Gospel demands a response
    • Repent (Acts 3:19)
      • Repent to God and turn to Christ
      • Ezekiel 14:6 ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Repent, turn away from your idols, and turn your faces away from all your abominations.
    • Believe (John 3:16)
    • Confess (1 John 1:9(
    • Count the cost (Luke 9:23-26)
